To run the program the user does five basic operations, they are:
(If you do not have the video multiplexer from FG engineering installed which enables Video Monitoring Software to use 8 cameras, you can still operate and execute the Multiple Camera Scanning features. The only difference being is that all 8 channels will display the same video input from the one camera you are using. With the multiplexer attached each video channel will display separate video from each camera.)
Video Mode
The user can put the program in Video Mode. The main function
of Video Mode is to show the live video from the
camera so the live video settings can be adjusted. It is identified by
looking at the main window of the program and noticing that live color video is
displayed in the left half of the main program window, while the right half of
the main program window is blank or white. This state is characterized by not
being monitor mode, or web mode. To get into Video Mode, de-select Mode - Enable
Web Mode (so no check mark is beside this item). And select menu item Monitor
- Monitor Stop. All menu items accessible.
Monitor Mode
Its main function is show and capture motion detection video.
It is identified by looking at the main program window and noticing that the
right half of the main program window is primarily black, with objects in motion
shown in a white outline. The left half of the main program window
shows live color video. To get into monitor mode from video mode, go to menu item
Monitor - Monitor Start and select it. To capture video on motion detection
select menu item Monitor, Enable Capture to File. Most all menu items are accessible in
this mode, including menu items Settings, Program Parameters which is used to
fine tune motion detection.
Its main function is allow a web browser to use and control the Video Monitoring Software program remotely over the Internet. For the web browser to access the program run the Video Monitoring Software Web Server program from the Video Monitoring Software program menu item, Internet Communications, then you can use the browser to access the program. You can do this from the web browser on your computer or from a remote computer over a network or the Web. When in Web Mode status bar pane 3 displays "Web". While in Web Mode the program can be put into (a) Web Monitor Mode: i.e. monitoring for motion detection or (b) Web Live Mode: i.e.streaming live video of the site to a remote user.
(a) Web Monitor Mode: this mode is selected by selecting menu item, Mode, Enable Web Mode. Once in web mode there is a check mark beside this menu item, if not in web mode no check mark. Its main function is monitor for motion from where ever the given camera is. This mode is visually identified by looking at the main program window and noticing that right half of the main program window is black and white, the left half of the main program shows live video, and status bar third pane shows "Web". Most menu items are disabled. To change settings for web mode one must exit web mode, and change settings from Video Mode, then go back to Web Mode. Some program settings can be changed remotely by web browser, not requiring exiting Web Mode. You can also put the program in Monitor Mode through a web browser while the Video Monitoring Software Web Server program is running by selecting, Restart Program in Web Monitor Mode, from the Program Administration web Page.

(b) Web Live Mode: this mode can be selected remotely from a web browser while the Video Monitoring Software Web Server program is running along with the Video Monitoring Software program, or by selecting menu item, Mode, Web Live Mode, from the Video Monitoring Software program menus. Its function is to stream live video to a remote user - mode for doing remote viewing through your cameras. This mode is identified by looking at the main program window and noticing that both the left and right half of the main program window are grey with text saying Live Mode. And that first pane of the status bar reads "LiveMode", the second pane shows "Remote:StartLive", and the third pane shows "Web". You can exit Live Mode, by selecting menu item Mode, Web Monitor Mode, or exit Live Mode via the web browser page, Put Program back into Web Monitoring Mode from Web Live Mode. To remotely view the live video feed access the program with a web browser, and on the Program Administration web Page select, Put Program in Live Mode and Start Media Player in Web Page, with config file:1. - result remote live video shown in web your web browser.
To terminate Web Mode locally, select menu item Mode, if Enable Web Mode has a check mark beside it, click it to uncheck it. This will get rid of the check mark and terminate web mode. No check mark then not in Web Mode anymore, and pane three will read as "Desk" i.e. you are in desk mode not running the program in Web Mode.
The final operation is to set the program's configuration. This done in two ways, either in front of the computer or over the web with a browser. From in front of the computer select menu item, Settings, and then select it's sub-menus. How to change the program settings remotely is described under Web Mode.
