Select Video Compressor Codec

There are two ways to use the compression setting.

  1. Select the Video Compression manually on your own, from menu item Settings, Video Compression. Selection remains active as long as driver remembers it.
  2. Have the Video Monitoring Software program set the which compressor to use whenever the Video Monitoring Software program starts up, or switches Modes. The following describes how to have Video Monitoring Software program automatically select the compressor while it runs. (Note: it is possible to disable this feature by entering -1 under menu item Settings,  Program Parameters, Use Compressor)

To configure the program to always use your desired compressor, Select menu item, Settings, Video, Video Compression, click down arrow on scroll box, push slider bar to the top, count how far down the list Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1 is (count first item as 0, second as 1, third as 2 ....until your at MPEG-4 V1 say it is the fifth item counted as 4 - remember the number 4. Click Cancel.

Go to menu item Settings,  Program Parameters, enter the number 4 beside "Use Compressor", click OK.

Select menu item, Settings, Save Configuration.

Result: When you go into Monitor Mode Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1 will be used to compress your video files to disk. Also whenever you start the program it will be the default compress used in Monitor Mode.

Note:
Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1 is recommended because it gives small video files compared to no compression, and works with most capture drivers.
