Use Compressor

Menu Location: Settings - Program Parameters - Program - Use Compressor

Sets which video compression codec to use when the program starts or while it runs. The number of the compressor can be from 0 to 30. (Entering -1 disables the program from setting which compressor to use, then the user must manually select the compressor with menu item - Video Compression.)

Recommend use Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec V1 as shown below - is top one in Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec series listed.

To enable the program to set which compressor to use at startup. Enter the compressor number. You get the compressor number by going to menu Settings, Video, Video Compression, and opening up the Video Compression list box. The order of the compressor in the list box determines what its number is. Note: the numbers are not listed for you to see, you must calculate the number for your self.  So the first item in the list box is 0, the second is 1, the third is 2, and so on. There is a slider on the side of the list box which should be slid to the top of the list box to make sure you have the top item which is compressor 0. An example is given below. Once you have determined the compressor number enter it at menu Settings, Program Parameters, Use Compressor: for example type in 4, for the MPEG-4 Video codec.

NOTE:
If you fail to use a video codec compressor like MPEG 4 V1, your video file will be unexpectedly huge - like instead of  2 Mega Bytes it might be 60 Mega Bytes.

Use Microsoft video are codecs for best compatibility.

Some video files saved with different codecs cannot be rendered with Media Player from File, Open Video File. Therefore try using several different codecs  available on your machine to save and playback video files, until you find the best one to suit your needs.

Note:

To speed up the operation of the Video Monitoring Software program be sure to use video compression while capturing video, otherwise the video frame rate may be slowed down.

If this parameter is set to -1 i.e. disable program from selecting compressor, the video driver may reset the compressor to use to the default compressor at the top of the list, or to no compression at all which can effect the size of the captured video file, and also slow the program down when capturing motion and video.
