Enable Email AlarmMenu Location: Settings - Alarms - Enable Email Alarm Enable Send E-Mail Alarm on Alarm Condition Check this parameter for the program to send an email to the specified email address when it detects motion. ( Also make sure menu item, Monitor, Activate Enabled Alarms and
Capture, has already been selected i.e. status bar shows ARMED.) To E-Mail Address Enter the email address to where you want the alarm email sent to e.g. me@mycellphone.com. Use this field when configuring the program for the first time. This feature functions when the program is in Monitor Mode or in Web Mode. Time Between Email Alarms You can specify how often you want to receive email alarms in terms of seconds between email alarms. For example, if you enter 3600 seconds = 1 hr, then you will receive no more than one email alarm in one hour, even if more email alarms occur during that given hour. More email alarms are recorded to file but not sent during that hour. The important thing is that you received one. This is handy if you do not want to be swamped with emails when a lot of motion is detected at the site - especially if each email to your cell phone costs ten cents. Note: Always set this parameter to be larger, Time-Out for Send Email i.e. you always want to give the program enough time to clean up any failed email attempts before sending another email. Use Window's Dial-up Networking If this item is checked Video Monitoring Software program will try to dialup the internet before sending an email. Use this only if you are using an analog modem. This can give the user a window of opportunity to check their Video Monitoring Software site remotely for the cause of the alarm before the analog connection disconnects. It will also allow the IP address of the computer to be included in the email. The IP address is the URL to enter into a remote browser in order to log onto to the Video Monitoring Software program to check for the source of the alarm e.g. review video files or do a live video feed. If unchecked, Video Monitoring Software will not force a dialup. Then if Outlook Express is configured to automatically dialup, Outlook Express will handle the dialing when an email is sent, instead of the Video Monitoring Software program, and no IP address is sent in the email. Time-Out for Send Email Specifies how long after an email is sent that an email cleanup routine is run. The cleanup routine will close any email failed to send message windows so that the Video Monitoring Software program will not hang on a failed email send attempt. The routine will not take action if the email was sent OK. If the user clears the Outlook Express error window manually before the program does, then program reports email sent ok. NOTE: (1) you need an email program like Outlook Express which is installed and properly configured on your computer i.e. an email account and the account is set as the default account whenever Outlook Express creates or sends an email. |
