Define Alarm Condition

Menu Location: Settings - Alarms - Define Alarm Condition

This menu item and window dialog allows you to specify under what conditions you want an alarm to be issue. It does not enable the alarms to happen, that is done elsewhere. Here just the conditions for an alarm are specified in terms of  how many frames with detected motion in them during any fixed time interval will trigger an alarm, provided the alarm is enable. You can specify an alarm condition for each individual camera and/or all cameras combined.

This alarming works by a time interval or period. During this time interval the specified number of frames with motion detected in them must occur for an alarm to be issued. If the specified number of frames with motion detected in them does not occur then an alarm does not occur. At the end of the specified time interval the counter for frames detected is set back to zero, and frame counting starts again. If the frame counting during the time interval exceeds the Frames specified then and only then is an alarm issued.

 Time Interval (sec)

Specify the time interval in seconds for all motion detected frame counting to occur. The same time interval is applied to all camera channels.

Enable Cameras

This done with check marks down the left side of the dialog window. Only if the camera is enable will an alarm be issued for that camera. Otherwise not. Only if Enable Scanning is enabled will these separate camera alarms be active. If not using scanning then enable, Total All Cameras for an alarm to be active.

( Also make sure menu item, Monitor, Activate Enabled Alarms and Capture, has already been selected i.e. status bar shows ARMED.)

Frames

Specifies the number of frames with motion detected in them which will count for an alarm. If the number of frames with motion detected in them during the specified time interval  equals or exceeds the specified frames, an alarm is issued. Otherwise no alarm is issued.

IMPORTANT RULE:   The number of frames you enter here must be within the range of Frames Min and Frames Max parameters as set in the Monitor Mode Scanning - Scan Settings. Otherwise a you will receive a warning message, and the parameters you just entered get changed to conform with the rule.

Total All Cameras

This will add all the frames with motion detected in them for every camera, and if the number exceeds the frames you specify here, during the time interval, then an alarm is issued. This item is an OR item, meaning that if you enable a camera and Total All Cameras then either the individual camera or the Total All Cameras can issue an alarm. If using one camera and do not have the FGE  video multiplexer attached to Video Monitoring Software, then enable this item with a check mark, and disable all the individual cameras.
