Upload Video Files

Menu Location: Settings - Upload Video Files

Video Monitoring Software can upload your captured video files to some other disk space on the internet using FTP. You can specify the number of files, their size, and address where to send them. The number of files uploaded is controlled by overwriting the oldest file at the remote site, so your remote disk space won't overflow. This feature is good in case your captured files your local computer where Video Monitoring Software is running are at risk. It can act as a second backup copy.

The files are uploaded every time Video Monitoring Software closes the current captured video file. The less number frames per file, the sooner the captured video files are uploaded, so keep the frames per file smaller for quicker uploads e.g. 20-30 frames per file. Set at Program Parameters, Frames Per File. Video Files are closed when frames/file is reached, when closing Monitor Mode, or exiting the program provided that some frames were captured.

FTP Video Files Settings ( Dialog Window: FTP Upload of Video Files Settings)

Enable FTP Upload of Video Files

Place a check mark beside this item to upload video files when conditions described above pertain.

FTP Address, User Name, Password

Obtain these from your internet service provider. They usually provide you with personal web space now days i.e. disk space on their computer. Enter those parameters here.

Max Number of Files to Upload

This number will determine the number of files which Video Monitoring Software will upload. For example, 4. The uploaded files will be named 1.avi, 2.avi, 3.avi, and 4.avi. The fifth file will overwrite 1.avi and be called 1.avi. The date and time can be determined by the date and time listed beside the file when seen on the remote computer.

Access files on the remote computer with programs like your web browser using ftp instead of http in the command line or a program like WS_FTP.

Max Number of FTP Processes

Maximum number of FTP processes allowed to  run at the same time. If number of FTP processes which exist at any given moment exceed this value, then no more FTP files will be sent until the number of current FTP processes is reduced below the given maximum value. The FTP process counter can be cleared to 0, with menu item, Clear Status Bar or from the admin web page, so more FTP send processes can be created. This feature guards against the unlimited creation and accumulation of stuck or failed FTP send file processes - if there are any use CTRL ALT DEL to kill those stuck processes. Stuck FTP processes can be recognized with menu item, Program Status, FTP Processes Running.

Test FTP Upload Now

Will  upload file CaptureSample.avi to your remote FTP site disk space. When the file is uploaded it will be renamed to 1.avi or some other number which is reported by a message box. Good way to test if your user name and password are right before you enable the Upload feature to work dynamically while the program is running.

Upload Status

Is found in text file, c:\program files\site monitor\FtpFileLog.txt and in SiteMonErr.txt for diagnostics and troubleshooting purposes e.g if the password is  wrong or user name is wrong. Use menu item, Status, Show FTP Log.
