Locating Errors
The file c:\program files\site monitor\SiteMonErr.txt
is the error log for the program. It shows a history of errors. It can be useful
to id errors. Use menu item Settings, Status, Show Video Monitoring Software Program Log.
Forgot Password
From the distribution disks, copy the original unmodified file, sitemon.cfg, to c:\program
files\site monitor\sitemon.cfg overwriting the existing file. The new password
should be the default password which is just hitting the "Enter" key.
You should really now change the password to a more secure password, making a
record of the new password. If this does not work you will have contact
technical support.
Video Problems
Try to use the recommended video
hardware and drivers.
Try running c:\program files\site monitor\captest.exe
or vidcap32.exe. If these programs work, then Video Monitoring Software (sitemon.exe) should work as
well.
If not check if video drivers installed properly.
See if Logitech software programs are working OK.
ERR:15 Can't get video on Program Start
Check if camera is plugged in. Try exit and restart.
Try changing which video driver Video Monitoring Software loads. Go to Settings, Video, Select
Video Driver and try selecting another video driver which is listed.
ERR:52 No Configuration File.
The configuration file c:\program file\site
monitor\sitemon.cfg is missing or corrupt. From your distribution disks copy
sitemon.cfg to c:\program file\site monitor\sitemon.cfg
then it should work.
Error Unlicensed Software
Program is not licensed to run on the machine. Contact tech support for new
license for that machine.
Font Size Too Big for Video Monitoring Software Main Window
Makes video window too small. If menu fonts wrap around change font size on
machine.
Status Bar - can't see all of it
Go to menu, Settings, Program Parameters, Stat Bar Font Size and change
the size of the font. Save Configuration and restart the program.
Monitor Detection Window has too many white specs.
Change the Threshold value to a higher value. Go to menu, Settings, Program
Parameters, Threshold, and change the value.
Too Much Motion Detected.
Increase the Sensitivity value, and increase the Threshold value.
Too Little Motion Detection
Decrease the threshold value, decrease Sensitivity value. Make sure monitored sight
has sufficient lighting.
Motion Detected immediately upon switching to another camera
Cause switching noise or artifacts. Set parameter, On Switch Skip
Frames, to
a higher value.
Video Compression Menu Pops while program runs.
Means program cannot set compressor for the given driver. Solution - disable
program from selecting compressor. How
done see. Else contact tech support.
Program Cannot Set Video Parameters
Err 246 means video driver does not allow program to set video parameter. Go to
menu item Settings, Video, Set Video By Program, and uncheck i.e. disable,
Enable Program to Set Video Parameters. Will stop the error message from popping
up. Also see.
Web Mode Won't Start
Kill any duplicate processes of NsRex.exe that may be running. Before starting
Web Mode there should not be any NsRex.exe process, and during Web Mode only one
NsRex.exe process. Usually <ctrl><alt><del> pops up a menu of
running processes, from which one can kill duplicate processes.
Web Live Mode Will Not Work
Did you Configure Live Mode yet?
If not configure live mode.
Kill any duplicate processes of NsRex.exe that may be running. Before starting
Web Mode there should not be any NsRex.exe process, and during Web Mode only one
NsRex.exe process. Usually <ctrl><alt><del> pops up a menu of
running processes, from which one can kill duplicate processes.
The Page cannot be displayed
Make sure your Video Monitoring Software Web Server is running, re-log on again to
Video Monitoring Software, or close web
browser and try again with new browser window, or check parameter, Access Level.
In Video Monitoring Software Web Server check parameter, Do Not Respond to Bad Requests.
Video Monitoring Software Program is not running...
Insure Video Monitoring Software program is running in Web Mode on the local computer.
ERR46 Start Live
Problem with Windows Media Encoder and LiveToLive1.asd file. Possible
LiveToLive1.asd file not configured right for your audio codec. Have to remake
LiveToLive1.asd file with Windows Media Encoder.

Also make sure video port has been configured correctly. Or use wizard, Quick
Configuration, Configure Live Mode.
Windows Media Player trouble connecting
If Windows Media Player 9 or higher does not work right, consider the following
information - make sure under Options use internet is enabled. It seems Windows Media Player 6.4 is better able to find and play remote video
files and IP addresses, than Windows Media Player 7 or 8. If you have
problems with, Windows Media Player cannot connect to the Live Video Feed or
playing video files. This may occur using
remote web page command,
Put Program in Live Mode and
Start Stand Alone Media Player. Cause - Windows Media Player is not configure
correctly for making internet or intranet connection. It seems Windows Media
Player 6.4 is better able to find and play remote video files and IP
addresses, than Windows Media Player 7 or 8. Solution (1) make Windows
Media Player 6.4 the default player. From the taskbar select Start, Run, type
mplayer2, click OK. From Player 6.4 window, select View, Options, Format Tab,
select All, click OK. Result Player 6.4 will be used instead of problematic
Player 8, or 7. Solution (2) Configure Player 8 or 7 for Internet Connection if

article Q272487. To make Windows Media Player 7, or 8 the default
player again, start up Windows Media Player 7 or 8, and do the above menu
selections.
Cannot Do Live Feed to Local Area Network from Internet
See try manually set the IP address or use manual
method to do live video feed set the IP address.
