Email Alarm Settings

Menu Location: Settings - Alarms

Settings for the email alarm. You need to have Microsoft Outlook Express or Windows Mail installed on your computer.

To E-Mail Address

Enter the email address to where you want the alarm email sent to e.g. me@mycellphone.com. Use this field when configuring the program for the first time.

Time Between Email Alarms

You can specify how often you want to receive email alarms in terms of seconds between email alarms. For example, if you enter 3600 seconds = 1 hr, then you will receive no more than one email alarm in one hour, even if more email alarms occur during that given hour. More email alarms are recorded to file but not sent during that hour. The important thing is that you received one. This is handy if you do not want to be swamped with emails when a lot of motion is detected at the site - especially if each email to your cell phone costs money.

Note: Always set this parameter to be larger, Time-Out for Send Email i.e. you always want to give the program enough time to clean up any failed email attempts before sending another email.

Time-Out for Send Email

Specifies how long after an email is sent that an email cleanup routine is run. The cleanup routine will close any email failed to send message windows so that the Video Surveillance WebCam Software will not hang on a failed email send attempt. The routine will not take action if the email was sent OK. If the user clears the Outlook Express error window manually before the program does, then program reports email sent ok.

Use Window's Dial-up Networking

If this item is checked the program will try to dialup the internet before sending an email. Use this only if you are using an analog modem. You need to configure Windows  Dialup Networking properties first for your modem. Example what number to dial for your internet connection, how long to stay connected, etc.

Save Video Files After Email Alarm

If checked after an email alarm the current video files are closed so that they immediately become available for review. Also useful for the Stream File program to immediately stream the files with the alarms on them.

If the File Streaming feature of this program is enabled, email with alarms in them will come with links to video capture files which have alarms in them. So you can immediately review the video of the alarm right from the email in Windows Media Player. This will work if the Allow Some Commands Without Logon, feature is enabled.

NOTE:
For email alarm to work:

You need to have Outlook Express or Windows Mail installed on your computer. Outlook Express must be configured with a default working email account which is used to send the email. In Outlook Express under menu item, Tools, Options, Security, remove check mark from, Warm me when other applications try to send email as me.
