IP Address Tracking
Menu Location: Settings - IP Address Tracking
The Video Surveillance WebCam Software can help you track your computer's address on the internet. You will need your computer's ip address to connect your computer from a remote location on the internet. Helpful if you leave home and from a remote location you want to connect to your computer running the Video Surveillance WebCam Software, for example to review video captured files, check an alarm, or see live video from your cameras.
You do not have to use this ip address tracking method, there are many other ways to keep locate your computer's address on the internet as well. Example, other software programs, getting a static ip address from your Internet Service Provider, getting a URL using the Dynamic DNS function of your router. Our IP Address Tracking feature is added as one helpful feature to you.
It works by reading your computer's ip address and sending it to our web site. You then can go to our web site and lookup your ip address. You then can enter that ip address in your browser and connect to your computer and the Video Surveillance WebCam Software.
It sends the ip address when the program is started, and about every 3 hours after that. If your router changes ip addresses every few minutes then IP Address Tracking will not work for you - you will need a static ip address from your Internet Service Provider or use your routers Dynamic DNS function. If your computer is connected directly to a modem without a router, then IP Address Tracking may work for you.
If using a router you need configure the router. Open some ports on your router. Do port forwarding from the public/WAN/internet side to your Video Surveillance WebCam Software computer on the private/LAN side. Example port forwarding for ports 80,90,1048,8080,8081.
