Passwords Menu Location: Settings - Passwords The Video Surveillance WebCam Software can have passwords set for remote user logons. There is an Admin Password and a User Password. Upon program installation, no passwords are set yet, therefore no password is required in the password window - for remote logon just leave it blank and click OK. If you forget your password you may have re-install the program, and then set a new password. If a password has already been set then the user must enter the old password before being able to change the password. The password can only be changed locally and not remotely. The Admin password is used to remotely to logon to the program. When one logs on with the Admin password all remote commands can be executed eg the Admin Web Page. When one logs on remotely with the User password, only some remote commands are available to the user, mainly view but not able to modify settings eg User Web Page. It is recommended to always have the passwords enabled if connected to the internet and Web Server Program is running, to guard against unauthorized access to the Video Surveillance WebCam Software. Enable Passwords One must enter a password to modify this item, or no password if no password has been set yet, just click OK. Enable Remote Password Put a check mark beside this item, so a password has to be entered to remotely use the program. Minutes for Auto Log Off The amount of minutes anyone can be logged on before the Video Surveillance WebCam Software automatically logs them off. Is a safeguard in case the user forgets to log off the program when finished doing remote access. If the program automatically logs you off just logon again with your password. LIMITATION: other persons may be able to remotely access the program while your logged on but it is not likely, therefore don't forget to log off. Set Admin Password Sets the Admin password. If already set, then prompts you for the old password. Set User Password Sets the Admin password. If already set, then prompts you for the old password. NOTE It is possible to execute a few remote file streaming commands, even if Enable Remote Password is enabled. This feature is called, Allow Some Commands Without Logon. Enabling or disabling this feature is done from the Web Server Program, under menu item, Set Server Configuration or remotely from Admin web page. When settings passwords, set both User and Admin passwords at the same time. Not just one, then not set the other.
