File Streaming Menu Location: Settings - File Streaming Streams video capture files with Windows Media Encoder which can be viewed by a remote user with Windows Media Player. Can stream files while Video Surveillance WebCam Software is monitoring, recording, or also streaming live video. Remote user can select files to stream. Can do just motion detected video streaming, using files created while monitoring. Can also just stream files with alarms in them. File Streaming may or may not be available depending on the software version of the Video Surveillance WebCam Software you have. File Streaming can be better than live video streaming since only significant information is sent and viewed e.g. watch only motion detected video, as opposed to having to watch everything. Also it can convert video avi files to streams which can be compatible with mobile devices so no downloading is required. The file stream can also be looped for repeated playing for easier remote reviewing. To use file streaming one must record video files with the Microsoft Windows Media Video 9 codec or Cinepak Codec by Radius. It is good idea for all the files in the VideoFiles program directory are all compressed with the same compressor and have the same image size, otherwise delete all the files and start recording so all files are saved with the same compressor, if going to use this feature. After you select one of the codecs above from Program Sets Compression, and image size form Video Format, set the corresponding codec and image size in the Stream File Program, under menu item Input Output Settings. Commands Use File Streaming Starts and runs the Stream File Program, or stops and closes the Stream File Program. The Stream File Program is a separate program which runs along side the Video Surveillance WebCam Software. Check this item and do Save Configuration, then Stream File Program starts and runs whenever the Video Surveillance WebCam Software starts up and runs. Show Program at Startup If checked Stream File Program and Windows Media Encoder will be displayed on computer screen when they run. Otherwise they run hidden along side the Video Surveillance WebCam Software. Effects show no show Stream File Program Window when Monitoring Program starts up. To show no show Encoder at startup, set it from Stream File program menu items. Just Stream Files with Alarms in Them If checked will only stream files which have sound or email alarms associated with them, and not stream other files. Otherwise all files created will be streamed. Effected by settings Frames Per File when file is closed, Save video files after email alarm, or whenever there is a file closure eg Stop, Close Files. Start Streaming Starts the Stream File Program to stream video of files out to a remote user. Streams whatever files are currently loaded, or new files created to come. Stop Streaming Stops the Stream File Program from streaming video files out to a remote user. Does not close and end the Stream File Program. Show/Configure Program If the Stream File Program is hidden, it makes it visible on the computer screen. The the user can access the menu items of the Stream File Program and configure the Stream File Program from there. Hide Program Hides the Stream File Program off the computer screen, while still allowing the program to run. There are some other File Streaming settings which are set in the Stream File Program itself from its menu items. More information in the Stream File Program Help Documentation.
From the Stream File Program Run the Stream File Program, with Use File Streaming above, then use its menu items to change the following settings:
One needs to configure the Stream File Program, to match the settings being used in the Video Surveillance WebCam Software. From the Stream File program, click on menu item, Help, Help Documentation for more information.
From Remote User Interface The some of commands above as well as other commands can be run from the Remote User Interface, Admin Web Page under File Streaming. From Email NOTE: Allow Some Stream File Commands Without Logon Some File Streaming commands can be remotely executed without having to logon to the Video Surveillance WebCam Software, even if the remote password is enabled. Enabling or disabling this feature is done from the Web Server Program, under menu item, Set Server Configuration or remotely from Admin web page. The feature allows the following commands to be execute directly from a received email, with an email alarm in it.
The feature allows one to receive an email, and play the video alarm file in Windows Media Player immediately with one click, without having to use a web browser or logon to the Video Surveillance WebCam Software.
