Do From the Internet

Now try doing the above examples remotely from the Internet, or over your LAN network. Using a web browser on another computer to communicate to the other computer running the Video Surveillance WebCam Software.

Accessing  the Video Surveillance WebCam Software remotely from the Internet is the same as accessing the Program from your browser on the same computer that the Video Surveillance WebCam Software is running on. Because the Remote User Interface seen is the same.

The only difference is:

  • the IP Address you enter into the web browser.
  • knowing what your internet ip address is
  • making sure your network or router is configured right.

IP Address For Browser

Instead of entering http://ComputerIPAddress/logon.htm in your browser.

You would enter http://ModemIPAddress/logon.htm
or http://RouterIPAddress/logon.htm
in your web browser.

Where ModemIPAddress is the ip address of your modem as seen from the internet, or RouterIPAddress is your router's ip address as seen from the internet ie WAN Address.

If you set the Web Server Program to Listen on port 90, instead of port 80

You would enter http://ModemIPAddress:90/logon.htm
or http://RouterIPAddress:90/logon.htm
in your web browser.

For Media Player Streaming

If streaming live video from the Video Surveillance WebCam Software, and you are using the Remote View Manual Method, you would enter in Windows Media Player:

 http://ModemIPAddress:VideoPort
or http://RouterIPAddress:VideoPort
where Video Port is the Streaming Video Port which the Video Surveillance WebCam Software or Encoder has been set to use e.g. 8080,8081,1048 ...

Same applies to File Streaming Manual Method.
